ADI Acquisition

In a strategic expansion of its AI power portfolio, ADI entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Empower Semiconductor for $1.5 billion in all cash. The transaction, approved by both boards, is expected to close in the second half of 2026 pending regulatory approval. Empower’s integrated voltage‑regulator (IVR) and silicon‑capacitor technology targets 800‑volt AI data‑center architectures, delivering high‑density, high‑efficiency power at the compute point and potentially reducing data‑center power consumption by 10‑15 %. Tim Phillips, Empower’s CEO, will remain to lead IVR technology within ADI. The acquisition is projected to contribute significantly to revenue starting in 2027 and expands ADI’s total addressable market in the AI accelerator space, supporting the company’s $20 billion revenue target for 2030.
