L'Oréal Secures Gucci

Coty’s exit from the Gucci partnership coincides with L’Oréal’s acquisition of Kering’s beauty division for $4.6 billion last year. L’Oréal will begin selling Gucci beauty products under an exclusive 50‑year license from July 2027. CEO Nicolas Hieronimus expressed enthusiasm at receiving the license sooner than anticipated, while Kering’s shares fell 3 % and Coty’s stock closed down nearly 1 % on the day the deal was announced. The early termination has also prompted Kering’s new CEO, Luca de Meo, to review Gucci’s fashion operations, which have undergone artistic director changes without delivering significant commercial success.
